ELENA E. PERNIA
President
DR. ELENA "NENY" E. PERNIA has over thirty years of experience in communication/media education, research, planning and evaluation. Her highly distinguished academic career focuses on building the capacity of students, local governments, health professionals, and civil society organizations to design, implement, and evaluate their own communication programs. An ardent believer in the importance of communicating correct science, she has initiated and led various projects that seek to mainstream S&T into the public consciousness and the nation’s development policy. Dr. Pernia is currently Vice President for Public Affairs of the University of the Philippines System and Professor of Communication at the University of Philippines’ College of Mass Communication (UP-CMC). From August 2015 to January 2019, she was Dean of the UP-CMC, a position she also held from June 2006 to May 2009. Previously, Dr. Pernia served as Readers’ Advocate or News Ombudsman at the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Inquirer Group of Companies). In mid 2016, she was appointed Head of Promotions and Marketing of iUPTV. In November 2018, Dr. Pernia was appointed Commissioner for communication and information of the UNESCO National Commission, representing the non-government organizations.
GRACE J. ALFONSO

DR. GRACE "GIGI" JAVIER ALFONSO is the Executive Director of the University of the Philippines Television (TVUP). She is the former Chancellor of the UP Open University and formerly UPOU Multimedia Center Director. She has been chosen as Professor Emeritus of the University of the Philippines. She is the founding Chairperson of the Film and Audiovisual Communication Department of the College of Mass Communication, UP Diliman; a director for film and television; a painter; a sculptor; a multimedia artist; a film critic; Member of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (Gawad Urian), a Professor at the UP Film Institute and UPOU Faculty member of Information and Communication Studies. She earned her PhD in Communication in 1990, her MA in the Humanities (Art History) in 1980, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1972, all from the University of the Philippines.
CHRISTINE ANNE R. COX

CHRISTINE ANNE R. COX is a full-time instructor at the Department of Communication of Ateneo de Manila University, teaching courses in media studies, gender, social change and communication theory and research. She obtained her Liberal Arts degree with a specialization in communication from the University of Asia and the Pacific, and her Master of Arts in Communication from the Ateneo de Manila University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Communication from the University of Philippines Diliman. Her research interests include media and cultural studies, popular culture, development and social justice, and communication technology research.
MARIA ANGELICA D. ABAD

MARIA ANGELICA "RICA" D. ABAD is the Assistant Secretary for the Philippines Communication Society. She currently serves as the Vice President for Public Affairs and Director for Alumni Relations with the University of the Philippines System. She is also a faculty member of the UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga (UPDEPP) teaching General Education Courses such as Speech 30- Public Speaking and Persuasion, and English 13 Writing as Thinking. She is a Trustee of the UP College of Mass Communication Foundation, Inc., and was the immediate past Executive Director. She currently serves as the Board Secretary of the UP College of Mass Communication Alumni Association in UP Diliman, a post she has filled since 2014. She has received her BA Communication degree major in Broadcast Communication minor in Advertising & Public Relations from U.P. Diliman in 1992, and her MS Television and Radio Management and Programming from Brooklyn College- City University of New York in 1995.
JONALOU S. LABOR

Associate Professor JONALOU "JUNEL" S. LABOR is a full-time faculty member of the Department of Communication Research at the UP College of Mass Communication (UP CMC). His research interests include communication and technology, mediated LGBTQ+ realities, health communication, and risk/ disaster communication. He co-leads the Filipino Communication Experience Laboratory at the UP CMC. He holds a PhD in Communication. At the UP System, he currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Public Affairs. He is also a research fellow at the UP Resiliency Institute. At UP Diliman, he is the Director of the Office of Research and Publications of the UP College of Mass Communication. Currently, Dr. Labor is part of the editorial boards of two communication, media, and society journals. He is the Managing Editor of the Plaridel Journal- a Scopus, WOS, and ASEAN-indexed academic journal. He is the sitting Editor-in-Chief of the Philippines Communication Society (PCS) Review- a national peer reviewed journal for communication scholars and practitioners. Dr. Labor has been awarded as one of the 2021 Distinguished Alumni of UP Los Baños.
RANDY JAY C. SOLIS

DR. RANDY JAY C. SOLIS is associate professor and chair of the Department of Communication Research at the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Mass Communication. He holds a PhD in Communication from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests include new media, health and development communication, gender, children, and migration and his works have been published in the Chinese Journal of Communication; M/C Journal; Pilipinas: A Journal of Philippine Studies; and Plaridel: A Philippine Journal of Communication, Media, and Society.
FELIPE F. SALVOSA II

FELIPE "IPE" F. SALVOSA II heads the Journalism Program of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila. At the same time, he is a researcher under the UST Research Center for Culture, Arts and the Humanities. Mr. Salvosa is formerly head of research and associate editor of BusinessWorld, managing editor of the Manila Times, a researcher for the Financial Times Group of London, and publications chief of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. Mr. Salvosa is a director of the Philippines Communication Society and vice president of the Journalism Studies Association of the Philippines
EDNA T. BERNABE

DR. EDNA T. BERNABE obtained her Bachelor in Broadcast Communication, Master in Mass Communication and Doctor in Education Management from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, where she was the Dean of the College of Communication. She teaches courses in Public Information and Campaigns, Communication Research, Intercultural Communication and Communication Theories. She is currently a consultant for communication and media related projects for strategic economic and social developed for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
KRIZTINE R. VIRAY

KRIZTINE "TIN" R. VIRAY is erstwhile President of the Philippines Communication Society and an Associate Professor of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Ms. Viray teaches courses in communication, theatre, and film. She has been serving as trainor on media and communication for Asian media practitioners of Radio Veritas Asia since 2014. Ms. Viray is also an accomplished event director having directed conferences, concerts and corporate gatherings for national and international organizations, and public and private corporations. She honed her skills and knowledge from the following institutions for her degree and non-degree courses: the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Master in Communication), Asian Institute of Management (Executive Course on Change Management), and Cardiff University in UK (Community Journalism). She currently reads for her Doctor of Philosophy in Philippine Studies (Language, Culture and Media) degree at the De La Salle University Manila.
FLORDELIZ L. ABANTO

FLORDELIZ "LIZ" L. ABANTO teaches at the St. Scholastica’s College in Manila whose Communication Department she chaired from 2008 to 2010. She was the president of the Philippine Association of Communication Educators Foundation Inc. (PACE) from 2008-2010 and is a core member of the Philippine Academic Society for Climate and Disaster Resilience. She obtained her AB degree in Broadcasting from the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UPCMC) in Diliman, and her MA degree in Communication from Bangkok University, Thailand. She trained in Educational Broadcasting at the South Carolina Educational TV, USA. She is the executive producer and co-host of the multi-awarded Cultural Center of the Philippines and DZRH radio program, Sugpuin ang Korupsyon–Walang Kukurap (Fight Corruption–Be Vigilant).
DANTE M. VELASCO

DR. DANTE M. VELASCO is the chairman and CEO of Creative Point International, a company he founded. He is also Chairman of DMV Communications Inc. Dante’s vast experience spans both the private and public sector. He served as Undersecretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) serving as Official Spokesman and Incharge of Road Transport. He was also the head of the Action Center and DOTC’s official liaison officer to Malacanang. Under President Duterte, he served as Senior Foreign Affairs Adviser. Dante holds the distinction of participating in internationally-conducted risk communications and crisis-preparedness programs – including those conducted by Ogilvy Public Relations and Hill & Knowlton. He contributes communication and PR articles for the country’s largest daily – The Philippine Daily Inquirer, and is Senior Lecturer at the University of the Philippines, where he also served as Consultant-Communication Director.
HEMMADY S. MORA

DR. HEMMADY S. MORA is currently the Dean of the College of Communication of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She is also served as PUP chairperson of the Department of Journalism (2017-2021) and a course specialist at the Open University Broadcast Communication program of PUP. She is an international lecturer and trainer for MIL and Journalism Studies and a special correspondent and online writer/consultant. Dr. Mora has lectured on Media and Information Literacy and Citizen Journalism in the University of Vienna, Austria (2017), at Amikom University, Indonesia (2018) and Chandigarh University, India (2018). She was also a recipient of the accelerated Haggai Leadership Experience (HLE) last 2019 in Maui, Hawaii, USA. She also serves as online columnist at The Manila Express and writer-contributor for The Daily Tribune. She also served as judge in the 2019 Golden Dove Awards and currently chairs the public image committee of the Rotary Club of Central Diliman.
NEF T. LUCZON

NEF T. LUCZON is a reporter at the State-run Philippine News Agency, who also oversees Cagayan de Oro City, covering Northern Mindanao Region, as the Bureau Chief. He started his career as a journalist starting as a correspondent in one of Davao City’s oldest newspapers, the Mindanao Times, and other radio stations, then later worked for Manila Bulletin, and GMA Network Cagayan de Oro. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at the University of Mindanao. He finished both Master of Development Communication and Doctor of Communication at the University of the Philippines-Open University. He also made some films, mostly documentaries.
GINA D. LUMAUIG

GINA D. LUMAUIG is a writer and Communications professional with an extensive experience in public relations, media relations, & events management. She has worked with academe, non-government organizations, entrepreneurs, and corporations, helping build their brands through different communication strategies. She was the president of the UP College of Mass Communication Alumni Association from 2011-2013, and served as executive director of the UP CMC Foundation, Inc.
ARTIN G. UMALI

Professor ARTIN D. UMALI is the chair of the Communication and Journalism Department, College of Liberal Arts and Communication at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. He currently manages DLSU-D Green FM, the official University radio station of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. He obtained his BS Economics from the UP School of Economics and his MA Communication Major in Broadcast from the UP College of Mass Communication in Diliman.
